The Essex Community QYD Project was recently recognized by the National QYD Credential Committee for achieving its first two Quality Youth Development (QYD) Benchmarks! At an Essex QYD Steering Committee on 3/9, the group was presented with a Notice of Accomplishment for documenting the following achievements:
“Welcoming, inclusive, and accessible space in the community for any youth to gather safely when out of school”.
“Internship opportunities for youth”
They are now working on “Youth are welcome” signs for local businesses and documenting the “Funding support” provided for youth by the Essex community. Also in the works is a “Youth Legislative Forum” for Essex teens.
Anyone interested in supporting the Essex quest for QYD certification can call (802-878-6982 Ext. 101) or email (david@essexchips.org) me so I can connect them to the Co-chair of the Steering Committee.
